Like an iceberg, Peter Merian Haus rises above the urban surrounding area - shimmering green, cool, its exterior changing with each change in the weather. The architect of this building Hans Zwimpfer is convinced that a third element can emerge from the combination of art and architecture: not just art in the building, as a decoration of architecture, but something new and unprecedented which changes architecture and raises the quality of life for its users. With Peter Merian Haus an office building emerged that is not simply a giant work of art you can walk into. Rather, it provides space for art, but remains a building - sober and functional.

Eight international artists participated with large scale works in this project. The artists were Donald Judd, Roni Horn, Brigitte Kowanz, Ursula Mumenthaler, Pipilotti Rist, Francois Morellet, Beat Zoderer, Hans Danuser.
