Since the mid-1980s Roberto Meyer and Jeroen van Schooten have designed projects ranging from housing to bridges, from reconstructions of historic monuments to big international headquarters. This beautifully produced monograph presents the very first comprehensive overview of this work, from the earliest private houses to the headquarters of ING Group currently under construction in Amsterdam.

The architecture of Meyer and Van Schooten differs from the norm in the Netherlands. Their architecture never merges quietly into the urban landscape but is always up front. The architecture of Meyer and Van Schooten offers an elegant solution to a challenge - making buildings that look attractive, function well and are invariably a reflection of the here and now.The book opens with a detailed essay in word and image, in which Hans Ibelings considers the design concepts and strategies of Meyer and Van Schooten and traces the lines of development in their work. The second section consists of an overview of almost twenty of the practice's most important works, including the orthodontic surgery in Almere and the complex for Kema in Arnhem, as well as dwellings in the Vespuccistraat, the Pakhuis Amserdam warehouse redevelopment, and the headquarters of ING Group, all in Amsterdam.
