This large-format volume is the first to document the long-term collaboration of Italian photographer Walter Niedermayr (*1952) and Tokyo architects Kazuyo Sejima (*1956) and Ryue Nishizawa (*1966), who operate under the name SANAA. Niedermayr is especially known around the world for his photographs of pale alpine landscapes, SANAA for the minimalistic, ephemeral effects of their buildings. In each of their disciplines they pursue an artistically abstract approach to investigating architecture and space according to their coexistence, layers, and constructs.Projects featured include: Glass Pavilion, Toledo, 2006, Novartis Campus, Basel, 2006
Zollverein School of Management and Design, Essen, 2006
Moriyama House, Tokyo, 2005, Onishi Hall, Onishi, 2005
21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, 2004, House in Plum Grove, Tokyo, 2003, and Day Care Centre, Yokohama, 2000.
