Wiel Arets is one of Holland's leading young architects and has won an international following for his spare industrial forms and his theoretical writings. Trained at the technical University of Eindhoven, Arets often works with translucent glass, concrete, and wood to integrate compositional strategies with his interest in transparency and reducing essential space to a bare minimum.

This book, edited by Massimo Faiferri, gathers in chronological order a careful selection of projects and constructed works by Arets, and documents the maturity of the work of the Dutch architect. Included are the Fine Arts Academy of Maastricht, the AZL insurance building in Heerlen, the KNSM-Eiland apartment towers in Amsterdam, the police stations of Vaals, Boxtel and Cuijk, and many single-family houses among others.
